Service

Service at Campassion

Service is the largest part behind what we'll be doing at Campassion. And we'll be showing kids that service is not only easy, it's fun!

Kids want to help the world. They want to volunteer. But of course, there are age restrictions make it hard for them to find opportunities to serve. They know there are people who need help, but they don't know where to start.

Ultimately, Campassion is an educational program. Instead of having children jumping in to service opportunities, we believe that education about the very real situations in our world should always come first. We start every project with readalouds and our own research regarding food, hygiene, housing, and clothing insecurity before committing to any project.

So that's part of what Campassion does. We educate as it not only makes our projects even more meaningful, but it broadens our children's understanding of our world.

We create projects both big and small. Be it creating "Sweetcases" for children transitioning through foster care to serving lunch and bingo boards to seniors our community. In addition, campers engage in daily work towards their big event--"Drive Days," during which we collect items for nonprofits such as Cradles 2 Crayons, Hope & Comfort, and Harvest on the Vine. All acts of service are important and are empowering to children.
